The Vintners' Daughter & Her Magical Elixir!

While we’re normally espousing the advantages of nourishing from within, (and yes we’ll get to that shortly!) a nurturing skin regimen - from the outside - is also important. Here in the Napa Valley, It’s fortunate for us to have so much creative talent that it goes even beyond the extraordinary winemaking efforts and includes an entrepreneur who has taken her creativity and prowess in another direction, and into another sort of bottle – purple-hued nonetheless!

April Gargiulo, who has been called a modern skincare maverick in the press, is the creator of The Vintner’s Daughter Active Botanical Serum. Established on a skincare platform of Phyto Radiance Infusion, she uses all natural, toxin free alternatives to formulate a skincare product that is geared to everything from fine lines and wrinkles to acne to elasticity and radiance in general. Wow! With time first in the furniture design world, and then winemaking, it was when she was pregnant that she began to search for something she could use safely on her skin. What she found were 'natural' products on the market that had so many toxic chemicals in them that she knew there must be a better alternative … and that’s the spark that began the quest!

She is full of energy and enthusiasm about her Serum and how much early interest she’s seen from consumers. The testimonials are rolling in and it seems everyone is glow-y, radiant and pleased! And if you know her local vintner parents, Valerie and Jeff, you know where some of her creative energy and fortitude comes from! At their home and winery, there’s always lots of wonderful, warm hospitality that envelopes you and inspires. Valerie is a creative dynamo … and if it’s up to Jeff, there’s likely always a festive jam session after dinner – don’t forget your guitar!

Jeff and Valerie Gargiulo

Committed to creating the most effective serum possible, April began a 2 year-long research and formulation process where she sought out toxin free alternatives—trying everything from cult beauty oils to coconut butter. Similar to the fine winemaking process, Vintner’s Daughter puts sourcing the world’s finest raw ingredients at the top of the list and honors them through an exacting formulation process. The result is her ‘multi-correctional’ face serum that is purported to be on its way to earning international cult status!

And the bottle, oh yes, that curious and beautiful purple hue. It’s April’s undaunted commitment to quality that encourages what may seem like unusual packaging. The Serum is bottled in a dark violet Miron glass that is said to energetically activate the botanical formula even further. And the violet-colored glass is meant to work like a natural filter, only letting the beneficial sunlight in, thus in theory lengthening its lifespan.

Of course we love the local angle to claim her in our midst in the Napa Valley but we also heartily applaud the company’s philosophy of giving back -- and with that in mind they are proud to share 2% of every purchase with charities dedicated to protecting, educating and empowering woman and children around the world.

This post wouldn’t be complete though without a quick glimpse into a morning routine that helps her keep up the energy, from the inside, not only to run a new company but also to wrangle a couple of lively little girls every day!

April will tell you that her normal routine includes a 6:30 wake up with one or both of her ‘sweet baby girls’ yelling “mama.” And the day is off to a jump start! She drinks water and lemon first thing every morning and a cup of jasmine green tea.

She and the girls will often eat overnight soaked raw oatmeal for breakfast that they call Carrot Cake oatmeal. Her simple (and adaptable!) recipe: Add chia, flaxseed, raw grated carrot, dried goji berries, walnuts, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, almond milk and grated coconut to rolled oats and let it sit overnight. It’s certainly super easy, makes the morning routine that much less hectic, gives them energy that lasts, and they all agree it’s delicious!

Thanks for sharing, April! We wish you much continued success!
